As President of the Aesthetic and Anti-Aging Medicine Society of South Africa (AAMSSA) Dr Debbie Norval places a high value on medical ethics and standards of excellence. She enjoys leadership roles within several medical working groups including the Medico-legal and Ethics committee of AAMSSA and the Professionalism and Ethics committee of SAAHSP (South African Association of Health and Skincare Professionals). She is actively involved on the Regenerative Aesthetic Medicine and Aesthetic Nurse working groups and also on the Scientific Committee of AMCSA (Aesthetic Medicine Congress of South Africa).
Lecturer and trainer
A trainer for Genop SA, Lamprobe SA and Medi-Aesthetic Solutions, Dr Norval has a passion for teaching. She often mentors doctors new to the field and has initiated the AAMSSA mentorship programme for newly qualified doctors.
Research and writing
Evidence-based medicine is important to Dr Debbie and she is the founder and convener of the Johannesburg Aesthetic Doctors Journal Club.
She regularly presents her findings at local and international workshops. Regularly attending conferences also keeps her ahead of the curve. Dr Debbie believes that growing and adapting to changes in trends, scientific breakthroughs and educational initiatives is essential in the rapidly evolving field of aesthetic medicine.
Her procedures using the latest technologies to enhance her clients’ features are safely administered from her tranquil Parktown North practice. Utilizing a variety of cosmetic non-surgical treatments, she works closely with her patients and understands every individual concern.
Dr Debbie’s background in Palliative Medicine and Hospice care has taught her the importance of attentive listening, empathy, and the ability to understand her patients’ needs and concerns. Her experience in pain management, analgesia and anaesthesia enables the comfortable, safe, and mostly painless administration of treatments.
